Navigating with Purpose and Respect
Aethervoy brings together experienced sailors, local knowledge, and a commitment to thoughtful maritime practices across the Andaman archipelago.
Return HomeOur Story
Aethervoy was founded in 2018 by a group of sailors who had spent years navigating the waters between Thailand and Malaysia. What started as weekend voyages with friends gradually evolved into a small charter operation focused on sharing the quieter corners of the Andaman Sea with travelers seeking something beyond typical tourist routes.
Our name draws from the concept of navigating unseen pathways, the routes that connect islands and coastal communities across these waters. Rather than following predetermined schedules, we work with each group to design journeys that match their interests and comfort levels, whether that means anchoring in sheltered bays, visiting fishing villages, or simply finding good spots to watch the sun set over limestone formations.
The Andaman Sea has shaped our approach to sailing. These waters demand attention to seasonal patterns, respect for sudden weather changes, and an understanding of where to find shelter when needed. Our crew members have learned from local fishermen and coastal navigators who know these routes intimately, and we continue to learn from each voyage we complete.
We maintain relationships with communities along our routes, supporting local suppliers for provisions and working with guides who can provide context about the places we visit. This network allows us to adjust itineraries based on current conditions and local knowledge, helping guests experience these waters in ways that feel both safe and genuine.
Today, we operate three vessels ranging from traditional longtail-style boats for day trips to larger yachts equipped for extended passages. Each has been chosen for its seaworthiness and suitability to these particular waters. Our goal remains consistent with those early weekend voyages: to facilitate connections between people and the ocean that leave room for discovery, reflection, and appreciation of the maritime environment.

Our Operating Standards
The practices and protocols that guide our sailing operations.
Maritime Safety
All vessels carry current safety certifications, emergency equipment, and communication systems. Crew members maintain first aid and marine safety qualifications through regular training updates.
Vessel Maintenance
Each yacht follows a documented maintenance schedule covering engines, rigging, safety systems, and onboard equipment. Vessels are inspected before each voyage and serviced according to manufacturer specifications.
Route Planning
Voyages are planned considering seasonal weather patterns, tidal conditions, and safe harbor locations. We maintain flexibility to adjust routes based on forecasts and current conditions at sea.
Environmental Practice
We follow no-discharge policies in sensitive areas, use reef-safe mooring practices, and work with local conservation groups to understand marine protection guidelines for the regions we visit.
What Guides Our Work
Local Maritime Knowledge
Our understanding of these waters comes from years spent sailing between Phuket, the Similan Islands, and down to Langkawi. We've learned from local fishing communities, coastal pilots, and our own accumulated experience navigating channels, reading weather patterns, and finding anchorages that offer protection from prevailing winds. This knowledge informs every route we plan and helps us make informed decisions when conditions change unexpectedly.
Thoughtful Guest Experience
We recognize that people come to sailing with different comfort levels, interests, and expectations. Some guests want to participate actively in sailing operations, while others prefer to observe and relax. Our crew adjusts the level of involvement based on your preferences, offering opportunities to learn about navigation and sail handling for those interested, while ensuring everyone feels comfortable regardless of their maritime background or physical capabilities.
Vessel Selection and Preparation
We choose vessels that match the specific requirements of Andaman sailing conditions. Our boats are selected for their stability in open water, adequate deck space for comfortable sailing, and appropriate cabin arrangements for extended trips. Each vessel receives thorough preparation before voyages, including safety equipment checks, provisioning based on guest preferences and dietary requirements, and route-specific gear preparation.
Community Connections
Our routes take us through waters where fishing communities and island villages have lived for generations. We maintain relationships with these communities, sourcing provisions locally when possible, engaging guides who can provide cultural context, and respecting local customs and practices. These connections enrich the sailing experience while ensuring our presence contributes positively to the places we visit.
Weather-Responsive Operations
The Andaman Sea's weather patterns shift significantly between seasons, and even within the favorable November-to-April sailing window, conditions can change rapidly. We monitor forecasts closely, maintain communication with other vessels and coastal stations, and prioritize guest safety over rigid adherence to planned itineraries. This approach means we sometimes adjust routes or timing, but it ensures voyages remain comfortable and secure.
